TL;DR:

A PSAR guide to navigating Mount Rainier National Park in the winter and spring.

PROJECT DETAILS

The snowiest place in the U.S. is also one of the most breathtaking—and the most dangerous. At Mount Rainier National Park, winter is pure magic, but it’s also deep snow, whiteout conditions, and terrain that doesn’t forgive mistakes. As a Visual Information Specialist, I designed brand-new preventative Search and Rescue panels for the winter and spring seasons—now installed at the Paradise Visitor Center—to help visitors stay safe in an unpredictable landscape.

I worked with other rangers and subject matter experts to make sure the messaging was accurate, clear, and visually sharp. Every detail was intentional: from the photography (which I shot myself) to the copywriting, layout, and even a ski route map. Because staying safe in the backcountry starts long before you step into the snow.
