Met-alphabet

Somewhere between a horseshoe, a piece of machinery, and a rhinestone-studded fever dream, I found an alphabet. Yeeeee-hawwww.

You ever seen Beyoncé on stage?

Neither have I. Maybe you have. All I can do is devour whatever crumbs of shaky cellphone footage make it onto YouTube. Bless those people.

Cowboy Carter makes cowboy core feel futuristic and glamorous: polished chrome, glowing horseshoes, rhinestones, fringe, and a little swashbuckling flair. Add some literal spaghetti Western imagery, a little Orville Peck, and a healthy dose of machinery, and I had an excuse to go a little feral.

Inspiration

The letters became things to fabricate rather than things to draw. I stretched them, folded them, bent them, layered them, and let them get a little unruly.

Some became heavy and mechanical; others revealed their internal structure.

The question became less How do I make a letter out of metal? and more What would metal look like if it behaved like a ribbon?

Forged in the West.

The result is an alphabet somewhere between rodeo hardware, industrial machinery, and something that fell out of a spaceship (Beyoncé’s “Alien Superstar,” anyone?).

Ride ’em, typeboy.

A new alphabet, forged somewhere between the frontier and the future.
